Hair cycle

Each hair follicle is constantly subjected to cycles, which by normal hair growth consist of the following three stages:

The anagen phase: Growth and formation of the hair shaft. Duration: 2-8 years. 85-90% of the hair follicles are in the anagen phase.

The catagen phase: Interruption of hair growth and regression of the follicle. Duration: 2-3 weeks. 1-2% of the hair follicles are in the catagen phase.

The telogen phase: Resting state of the hair follicle. Duration:2-4 months. 5-15% of the hair follicles are in the telogen phase.

The normal hair-growth cycle is repeated about 20 times; however, it can be modified or shortened by internal or external factors such as hormones, stress, disease, exposure to environmental pollution, and smoking. Losing 50-150 hairs per day is normal.

The chemical composition of the roots of Asian Scutellaria is characterized by its high content in flavonoids.
