Castor oil is a thick, sticky liquid that absorbed very slowly into the skin. Castor oil is characterized by a unique fatty acid profile. It consists of more than 85% ricinoleic acid, a rare omega-9 fatty acid. This, together with an additional hydroxy group, ensures the oil’s high viscosity.

Castor oil acts as a protective barrier on the skin and protects against harsh environmental conditions. When applied to the skin or scalp, castor oil has a nourishing effect and provides a natural glow. In addition, castor oil has a protective and strengthening effect on hair, eyelash and eyebrow care and adds shine. The hair remains supple with castor oil and is protected from breakage. Castor oil is ideal for the care of nails and cuticles. It can also be used in an oil-based perfume as a neutral fixative by mixing it with essential oils.

Our supplier of castor oil supports rural communities in India, promotes school education and enables small Indian farmers to convert to organic farming. The press cake of the castor oil is reused for compost and fertiliser and thus used in a circular way. Also, thanks to the production of the castor oil in India, a large part of the added value remains locally.
